PEC (Process Engineering Conrol) is a lot easier than PEC (Pregnant Elephant Control)! Me and Mae Bun Tong, a 28 year old elephant I had the pleasure of feeding, cleaning and riding for a day! The aim of the day was to experience a day in the life of an elephant trainer, and I certainly have a lot of respect for Mae Bun Tong’s mahout - I can tell you, it’s not easy controlling a moody 18 month pregnant elephant!

| Deb scales Sydney Harbour bridge Deb takes timeout during her recent trip to Sydney for the Australian Womens Veterans Hockey Championships. With prior knowledge that Star Trek overalls were the order of the day for the trek over the bridge, fearless Deb ’Danger’ Bunting draws a large scale replica of the Plexal logo on her forearm AND back of hand. Overcoming a seering fear of heights and 30kmh winds, Deb is spurred on by the opportunity to place an entry in the Plextreme competition. The climb itself lasts 2 hair-blasting hours and at the peak of the bridge, the instructor takes this classic shot of Deb bearing the logo.

| Dogtooth Tuna Mania Rolwey Shoals; 220km off the coast of Broome, WA; 6am and after the obiligatory morning scratch I decided to pick up a rod and try jigging for a Doggie. | You’d have to be happy with that owley Shoals Sailfish - triple hook-up that had the back of the boat in total chaos. We each landed our fish and all released to fight another day. Skip prefered the method of switch baiting. Teasers are trolled behind the boat until a Sailfish comes up for a look. A dead bait is quickly fed back to the fish while the teaser is bought in. You actually see the Sailfish put its head out of the water to take the bait - one was no more than 2m out the back of the boat havign followed the teaser all the way in!

| Popperism Popperism - an addiction to casting pieces of plastic that bob and splash on the surface as you retireve them back to the boat. Why is it addictive? Fishing in crsytal clear blue waters, sometimes as shallow as 1m up to 6m and you see the fish following your lure until it either grabs it or frustratingly turns away. In this case, this small Blue Travelly actually vertically launched itself about 1m into the air with the lure in it’s mouth - with in touching distance of the boat I was standing in! We caught over 300 fish for the week (ate about 8 and released the rest) of which 90% would have been casting poppers and assorted lures. The most insane bit of fishing I have experienced in the past 38 years.

| It simply never stopped Rowley Shoals again. This time a Black Travelly that are typically only caught at night. We started fishign at 6am every day for 7 days and usually finished at about 10pm - completely knackered. One evening we drifted for Broadbill - takign shifts. We’d started 6am and finished 10pm the following night - with 2 hours sleep in between!
