At inception, the founders of Plexal Group, Len Bunn and Steve Jones, were determined to grow a profitable business but not at the expense of the environment. As our management team has grown, each senior manager and our third Director, Dean Paton, has been equally enthusiastic in conducting our business in this way.

In 2006 Plexal Group calculated the total CO2 directly produced by our business activities in the 2005/6 financial year. It revealed that we produced over 133 tonnes of CO2 and that 577 trees needed to be planted to offset that one year of emissions. These trees require 30 years to process that amount of CO2.

In May 2007 we extended our contribution by matching dollar for dollar (to a maximum of $80 per employee) for those of our staff who wished to offset the CO2 emissions their lifestyle produced. It is currently estimated that average ‘western style’ living requires $160 worth of trees planted every year. This is a continuing program within Plexal Group.

Western Australia is also suffering from salt degradation of the land and the planting of trees goes some way to combating this major issue.

This initiative will continue for the life of the company.
